Opinion: Winner Of 2018 Men’s Golf US Open Gives Himself Best Father’s Day Gift!
If you are a golf fan, then you know that the US Open is intended to be golf’s ultimate test. While other tournaments are certainly revered heavily, in their own right, there is and always will be a special place among golf’s great tournaments that only the US Open can occupy.
Part of the mystique of the US Open is that it changes courses each year, always ending up at one of The United States of America’s golf meccas. For this tournament, the greatest players in the world all relish the chance to give it their best, along with some select (though still heavily talented) amateurs and club pros (not tour pros-BIG difference).
In the 2018 US Open, we have already seen some of golf’s top names do their best and still miss the cut. Alas, that’s how it goes in this sometimes callous and unforgiving event. Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcilroy and Tiger Woods are among the games top names who fell victim earlier than expected to this year’s course, Shinnecock Hills Golf Course in Southampton, NY. While Woods, Spieth and Mcilroy were all cut from the US Open earlier than they would have liked this year, we have a feeling that whoever does end up winning the event will most likely be a father. (Which has happened many times, so you’re probably thinking that’s not significant at all, right?)
So, WHY would it be significant for a father to win the US Open in 2018? Well, the last day of the 2018 Men’s Golf US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Course happens to conclude on Sunday, June 17th, 2018, which is actually Father’s Day! That’s right-Father’s Day 2018 is on the same day that the US Open concludes.
When you look at some names that are in the running right now, as of the start of the 3rd round, you see Dustin Johnson (-4), Scott Piercy (E) and Charley Hoffman (E), as well as Justin Rose (+1) atop the leader board. Well, do you notice anything strange about that list? In this age of young stars often winning events, it appears that some of the more seasoned veteran players have taken control of this tournament through 2 rounds. However, that’s not the point we’re making: the ironic thing about this list is that they are ALL fathers!
Thus, whoever wins the 2018 Men’s Golf US Open, in our opinion, will be giving himself one pretty NICE Father’s Day Gift. Whether Dustin Johnson holds on, or perhaps Scott Piercy, Charley Hoffman, Justin Rose, or even another competitor takes home the trophy, it looks right now like a father is going to win the 2018 Men’s Golf US Open ON Father’s Day…not a bad self gift, right?
Good luck to all of the competitors. BUT, for whoever does end up winning, there’s a free Fantaskey Premium Yearly Membership in it for you…so get in touch after your big win! 😉
